Weekend Update & 5th Week Anniversary!

As usual, following work on Friday, I headed to The Alley for Boston Bears' Happy Hour. I met up with a bunch of friends there, including Paul, Kevin, Arnie, Dan, Peter and others! It's good to see so many of the Boston Bears coming out on a regular basis!! Now we just need to raise awareness of the presence of the group -- maybe backpatches??? Although The Boston Bears is not a "leather club" in the traditional sense of the meaning, we are a club none the less... I will have to think about this some more... at 19:30, I was scheduled to leave with Shawn, but there was no sign of him. I was getting very anxious to leave, as I was due in Fall River for a Red Hanky Play Party! I walked outside to get a cell signal (I get NO reception in The Alley on my NexTel.) Sure enough, Shawn left me a voice mail that "he was on his way" at 19:35. Sigh... By 20:50, I just couldn't wait anymore and left, keeping an eye on Washington Street as I walked to the MBTA Station. Lucky for him, he was wearing his chaps with the red stripe down the sides that caught my eye as he walked past me!

We hopped the train to Braintree and got into my car, parked in the Wolleston T park & ride. We arrived in Fall River just after 22:00. Shawn and myself were to remain there for the next day and a half! There were a total of ten men, a good mix of tops & bottoms (mostly versitile) and two slings! It was a great bunch of guys, no attitude and lots of non-stop play! I'd been chatting with a lot of these guys online for a while, but never met them in person until that night!

One of the guys I met, Ken (photo on the left), was a really nice guy and we've got a lot of similar interests! In fact, everyone at the party were just GREAT PEOPLE! They were not PNPers (people into sex under the influence of drugs) and quite down to earth folks. Of course, there was more than an average curiosity with my newly circumcised cock!

On Saturday I fucked for the first time since my circumcision (at the 40 day mark!) It felt amazing because now when I wear a condom it does not roll back and forth with the skin (as the skin does not move!) -- Condoms were always an annoying aspect of safe sex, especially as they added yet an extra layer of insensitivity to the sex act. Now, if feels as if I'm not even wearing one! (I had to pull out a couple times to ensure I was wearing it still!, I care about my partners, so I'm paranoid that way!) I'm still more sensitive in my new state than I was in my former state. There's almost too much sensitivity at times (especially after ejaculating) -- some people have thought I was having a seizure! :-) -- Nope, just waves and waves of pleasure. Who knew that there would be this much of a positive change?

For those curious four of the guys at the party were uncut, two of them expressed a great interest in my recent modification and were full of questions; one of them had a bit of phimosis but could (painfully) retract -- a prime candidate for Dr. D! I gave them both Dr. David cards (and some encouragement!) Since being clipped, on average I have been having up to twenty serious circumcision conversations per weeknight via e-mail, Yahoo IM and/or over the telephone -- it's just amazing that even with the Internet just how much misinformation and myth about adult circumcision is still out there!

Of course, today, Monday the 21st is my 5th week anniversary date of my circumcision, and I've been loving it!

Wouldn't back patches give the impression that it is a leather club? I have seen locally where other groups have taken the back patch and appropriated it. As someone who does have a deep commitment to a primary club, only joining others as an associate, I find that behavior a distasteful muddying of the waters.

Patches are NOT just for leather clubs...
Look at THE LIBERTY BEARS, the METROBEARS (NYC), the DELAWARE VALLEY BEARS, the DC BEAR CLUB, TBLC of VA, and other BEAR CLUBS, several of which are FULL MEMBERS of AMCC (The ATLANTIC MOTORCYCLE COORDINATING COUNCIL.) They all have BACK PATCHES and operate JUST LIKE a leatehr club and have been ACCEPTED into the LEATHER COMMUNITY with open arms.

As a former full member and officer of a "real" leather club, since I turned 18, and recently converted to ASSOCIATE MEMBER due to the distance involved when I moved to Boston, MA; and in addition, one of the FIRST associate members of the Utica Tris; and in addition a member of MMA (Massachusetts Motorcycle Association) I can clearly state that having a BEAR CLUB with a BACKPATCH does not "muddy the waters" for the majority of existing leather clubs.

In fact, the BOSTON BEARS have won awards, hosted cocktail parties, and strongly supported and promoted MANY LEATHER CLUB events. Ask Empire City Motorcycle Club, The Bay State Marauders, Entre Nous, The Pocono Warriors, The Long Island Ravens, The Utica Tri's, The Rochester Rams, Spearhead of Toronto, Unicorn, M.C. and others about us... We've been doing A LOT over the past two years.

Therefore, I would humbly request that you reconsider this idea as being "distasteful", when BEAR CLUBS have been a large supporters of all of these clubs and their events...

Re: Patches are NOT just for leather clubs...
Yes, believe it or not, I am aware of that. Your promotion preceeds you. And my partner is a member of some bear orgs which ahve a leather club overlap. But you had appeared to be considering the option, and as I have met a large number of bears who vociferously do not ID as overlapping with the leather community, I figured I would add the comment. And of course the bear clubs are not like the straight clubs in doing this. So really, as you have made a decision, there is no need for the capital letters. I understand from your lists that you get this way (snippy-sounding, whether intended or not) on email, and will refrain from commenting again.
Thanks for the insights, though.

Your partner is a member of a backpatch-wearing bear club and you're complaining at my thoughts about raising the bar with the Boston Bears? Sorry, but that sounds hypocritical. You originally said: "As someone who does have a deep commitment to a primary club, only joining others as an associate, I find that behavior a distasteful muddying of the waters.", which from how I read it, infers that I do not have a deep commitment to a primary club and that my actions are distasteful and muddying the waters. I did take a bit of personal offense to that statement, as I am very much involved with the club scene on personal as well as club-related levels.

In my opinion, the damned "Leather Contests" which are not much more than a beauty pageant for men wearing leather, not leathermen as you an I know them (old-school/old-guard) are much more harmful to the leather community than a bear club wearing backpatches.

But you had appeared to be considering the option, and as I have met a large number of bears who vociferously do not ID as overlapping with the leather community, I figured I would add the comment. And of course the bear clubs are not like the straight clubs in doing this.

I am considering the option, I do not yet know if it's the best move just yet... I will present it to the b/o/d and see what they say, then present it to the membership (if it gets that far.)

I don't understand your comment about straight clubs. I am only a member of one non-gay club, MMA, (that does not mean we are a "straight club") -- it's just not a sexually identified group -- it's political in nature, lobbying and such...

So really, as you have made a decision, there is no need for the capital letters. I understand from your lists that you get this way (snippy-sounding, whether intended or not) on email, and will refrain from commenting again. Thanks for the insights, though.

Well, the first thing that comes to mind when someone gets like this with me (in my own BLOG even) is to simply put them in their place, hence the capital letters and such. Honestly, I'm not in a popularity contest here and could care less if you think I'm a good guy or not. People who know me know Im a good person and not an asshole. I do get snippy when someone steps on my toes, I bet you do to! If you choose to continue to comment with a reasonable attitude, great! If not, oh well, I'll be so crushed! ;-)

I think I would prefer being part of a club that was more of a fraternal organization (and all that entails) rather than just be a loose association of guys who get together to increase their potential for getting laid. Any queen can put on a bear or leather outfit, show up at a bar or event and get laid. It certainly doesn't mean they have any committment to anything, other than their sex life. I'm amazed at the people who are showing up on bear websites these days who would never have anyhting to do with any sort of bear "community." They're just trying to increase their potential for getting laid before they show up at Club Cafe to spend time with their "real" friends.
