Saturday morning I needed to shop and cook for our upcoming dinner party -- just about everything was made from scratch. The menu consisted of:
Appetizer: Vegetarian Antipasto tray (no meats)
Zuppa: Vegetarian Tortellini Soup
Main Course: Ricotta Gnocchi w/ Meatless Red Sauce
Cheesy Garlic Bread
Green Bean Almondine
Insalade: Tossed Italian Salad
Desert: Fresh Canolies
I think the the only thing that didn't come out exceptionally well was the Green Bean Almondine (it was bland and dry, guess I should have used more olive oil...) Otherwise, the meal was great!! We played "Scene It", the DVD Movie game and watched a few chapters of "Waiting For The Light", which is one of my favourite movies with Shirley MacLaine. The company was great, and it was really nice to actually use the fireplace and dining room for a change!
Sunday was the Bare Naked Bears gathering, and we ended up with a full house at Fred's! It was a great group of guys, we snacked and chatted about all sorts of things -- played Trivial Pursuit - the DVD edition, and fun was had by all!
On another note, I forgot to mention this last week -- eating right and working out has brought be back down to 183 pounds (83.2kg) and a 32" waist!! I can wear all my clothing again (not just the "fat", 36" waist clothes)!!! I'm really happy about that!!!
