In addition to MOVING to my new condo in Quincy (see photos below!) -- I will be on vacation July 16th thru July 26th for a bike tour, with ECMC. Heck, it's not like anyone's actually reading this anyways -- you're all on vacation too!! ;-)
The new condo is a two-floor, two-bedroom, 1 1/2 bath unit in a nice ten unit building on a quiet, residential dead-end street. It's located just 1/2 km (2000 ft) from the subway (Quincy Center - Red Line) on a hillside. Close to shopping and public transportation; yet it's quiet and in a park-like setting.
Look at the front of the complex, note, it's due for repainting soon. Come on inside, see the kitchen, here's another angle. Here is the dining room and the living room, attached is an outdoor deck. Now come upstairs. Here's the upstairs bathroom. There are also two bedrooms, but I don't have photos of them yet -- it was getting dark, and the power won't be turned on until tomorrow.
For the next three days, we will be painting and furniture shopping -- then I'm off for vacation, when I return, July 25th I will move the last of my stuff into the new home (including my fileserver - which will be offline from 23:00 07/25 thru 22:00 07/26 for the move.)
The new place is great, as there are no renters in the complex, everyone's an owner. This tends to make people better neighbours. In addition, by pal Chris Beale is my next-door neighbour!
I just called for cable, power and gas today... Now it's time to shop, paint and box things up.... *sigh* This will be my last move for quite a while. For those of you who don't read my blog on a regular basis, we were informed in May by the person who owned our prior apartment that they were retiring and moving to Florida and were selling their unit. We had to move by September 1st. Thanks to Chris Beale promptly letting me know about the recent vacancy in his co-op, we acted fast and closed the deal June 29th.
