Cure for AIDS?

Anti-HIV Virus Developed

Wired News is reporting that Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory may have developed a virus that fights the HIV virus. According to the article, 'It took Adam Arkin and David Schaffer just $200,000 and a grad student to develop a potential treatment for AIDS. And that scares them.'

The results have been promising, and if they continue in that vein, the researchers could begin animal testing by the end of this year. Read the article here...

treating a virus with a virus does scare me too..what if it mutates or joins forces? what happens when the one dies out and leaves the other behind?

In the "real world", we're exposed to viruses all the time. In fact, most people carry several "harmless" viruses in their bodies their entire life.

It's hard to say what dangers could come of this solution; other than to say that this would mean that the cure for HIV/AIDS could be transmitted in the same way HIV was... Could you imagine that???
