Facebook vs LiveJournal

I'm unsure which is better...

It seems that facebook appeals more to those with short-term memories.

I think LiveJournal is better. You are right about Facebook in that it is all about the now but there are several flaws that I'm told are maddening. For one, if anyone reads back on facebook and likes something random from your past, it will pop to the top of the list making Facebook Decidedly non-linear.

I have a very hard time with the concept of "Liking" something. There is yin without yang. There is no disliking something. It leads to very awkward moments because when your mother dies people can only acknowledge it by liking it. I am sure someone dying is not a cause for "like."

Saidly, LJ has lost critical mass. We need more people providing content.
The good news for LJ is that those people who only posted quizs are Facebook's problem now.

I encourage you to post more things here. Let's get some of those pigs airborne.

I gave up following FB quite a while ago. I still get email alerts, and sometimes follow one of them up, but on the whole I am not interested in the links to propaganda that FB largely consists of these days; whether I agree with it or not, it doesn't tell me much about the people I would like to keep up with.

On the other hand, tho I do page thru LJ, it has become a good deal less exciting since Tony Berno left. The other people here don't post much.
