The world of blogging, vlogging and such has changed.

No one reads long-winded individual blogs much anymore -- too many letters, too much time.

Perhaps I'll post some more here in time, but until then, my short-attention-spanned friends, please communicate with me (blog-wise) on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ChazNYC

Please note: I do not trust facebook, please continue to use the telephone, AFK (IRL) and my gmail account for proper one-on-one communications, as I see facebook as a 90% "output only" tool.

Oh, and don't forget to keep an eye on Where's Chaz to see where I'll be going!

It is disappointing that web culture has changed so much. The peak of journaling was an awesome time on the internet. The shortened attention spans of the current era don't lead to the same level of personal connection that we used to build. I'm as guilt as anyone though. The funny thing is writing a longer response like this feels indulgent. Sadness.

Yes, it's sad -- but I have a lifetime membership here, so I can always post from time to time.

That's a good thing; I'm a "lifer" too. And Facebook banned me a few years ago, which is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Facebook (in the United States) is very heavy-handed. I know of many people that have been blocked, banned or in the case of one friend, requested to submit government identification for verification of his name!

This is at the same time that "cumguzzler" and other such false names (in the U.S.) have active accounts... Why they single SOME people out is beyond my comprehension.

That's exactly why I decided not to try and go back; they asked for my birth certificate to verify my name, and since it wasn't the first time they'd blocked my account, I decided to give up. As I said, the best day of my life.

I think it is very interesting that you see Facebook as Output only.

I don't trust them either. I think they have become too much of a data harvester. If you don't log out they transmit all the information about your browsing to hq.

I continue to only use LiveJournal. I feel abandon by everyone but there are still a few die hards here.

I use several Firefox add-ons that protect my privacy, such as no-script and ad blocker. There are others too, but these really work well.
