Sure got some replies though!!!

It's amazing that somedays you can post a message that so meaningful, it reveals part of your very soul and gets ZERO replies, yet -- post a video of elephant fisting/scat and the visitor counter goes berserk! ;-)

Remember that elephants are herbivores. Like all herbivores, their excrement is composed mainly of undigested plant material. Thus, there is still some "goodness" left in it.

I suspect that the elephant who was eating might perhaps have not had much food lately, or had his food stolen by another elephant.

You may or may not know that rabbits eat their own excrement because the plant material in it goes through their (one) stomach and is not completely digested. Thus, they run it through a second time to wring all the nutrition out of it that they can.

Sparrows are known for seeking out horse manure and picking seeds and other edible material out of it.

Finally, a joke: A man in the hospital is getting annoyed with a very stuck-up nurse who insists on him providing a urine sample every day. One day, instead of providing the sample, he fills the container with apple juice. The nurse comes by, takes the bottle, looks at it, and says ponderously, "We're a bit cloudy today, I see." The man takes the container, looks at it intently, and says to the nurse, "Hm, yes, I think you're right." He opens the container and gulps the contents, saying, "Let's run it through again, shall we?" The nurse faints.

I know someone that "ran their urine sample through again" whilst in hospital, but used grapefruit juice from their breakfast tray.

Herbivore or not -- it's still pretty revolting to watch.

I won't eat sausage for several weeks now.

Well, indeedy. I found it fascinating, actually...I'm not into coprophagy, but watersports sometimes border on things of this sort as well.

All I know is that I would be very annoyed if an elephant tried to stick its trunk up my ass.
