Farewell David Tennant!

The books are closed on the last of Dr. Who 2009 and David Tennant (photo left) as "The Doctor". I wasn't sure how David would handle the role at first, but he grew into one of my favourite Dr. who actors since Jon Pertwee (photo right)!

Now it's up to Matthew Robert Smith to carry the torch for us, the fans! I sincerely wish him all the best -- he's going to struggle to shake off the Tennant fans (not unlike how Peter Davidson had to suffer the anger of the die-hard Tom Baker fans).

Did you know...

Every episode of 'the new' Dr. Who, 'Doctor Who Confidential', Torchwood, 'Torchwood De-Classified', The Sarah Jane Adventures (and much, much more) can all be downloaded from chazhome.com!

It's been a while since I've updated my blog, sorry about that -- it's just that I've just been busy... Looking for work, travelling, sight-seeing, club stuff, family stuff and enjoying home life with my husband!

To defend myself somewhat, I have been diligent about posting photos from my travels on my online photo album, as well as keeping Where's Chaz? and my Google Calendar up to date. I've also been active on Facebook (although I swore I'd never use it!) -- I have some simple rules with Facebook:

1) Facebook takes LAST priority for communications (phone and e-mail remain #1)

2) I reject ALL Facebook apps (i.e. Mafia Wars, Farm Frenzy, etc.)

3) If someone SPAMS me on Facebook, I unfriend them and then unfriend anyone that's mutually on their friend list and mine.

4) I don't approve just anyone as a friend -- I look first!

5) I don't reply to Events/Fan Pages/Groups unless I truly have an interest in them.

Make sense? Sure it does. ;-)

I'll post again soon, but I need to edit and upload photos from Philadelphia now! If you're a mate of mine, do drop me an e-mail from time to time. I've been noticing a drop-off in communication with many friends lately.

Matthew studied at the same university I did when I lived in England. :) Score for UEA!

I may have missed this - are you working these days?

Perhaps you have a strong connection to Matt then and can get him to come to GBBB13? ;-)

No. I am NOT yet working. Still looking (believe it or not!) It's a rough market out there!

The finale was fantastic! Some of the best writing they ever did.

The only thing I didn't like was the master "smelling" the doctor (and vice-versa) or (for that matter), the Master being able to shoot bolts from his hands and flying.

Too far... too far...

The bit with Wilfred tapping on the glass made me cry.

Great to see you during the Holidays; we must do it again.
Love the ending of Dr. Who; wondered when he was going to appear with my lottery ticket.....lol.
Matt Smith looks like a scream; I think he can bring a new light and direction but correct me if I am wrong, is he not the 13th Doctor and the last???
Ottawa as cold as hell; sigh, snow anyone??? lol

Yeah, a Time Lord only has 12 regenerations (13 lives).

However, it's SciFi. They can change the rules, as they made 'em.

The Master was on his LAST life several times. ;-)

Yeah... I didn't get the whole smelling thing either. Kinda wierd.

That was so sad when he tapped on the glass.

One question. The lady signing the book. Who was her grandmother that used to be a companion? I couldn't quite catch that.

Re: Who's the Author
Watch the series 3 (2007) two-part episode 185: "Human Nature" and "The Family of Blood"

The lady signing the book was a relative of Joan Redfern (both author and Joan are played by Jessica Hynes [best known as one of the creators and writers of the British sitcom Spaced, in which she played Daisy]). The Doctor (in human form as John Smith) fell deeply in love with Joan.

"...As John and the others take shelter, Tim arrives and returns the watch to John, and both Martha and Joan implore John to use it to become the Doctor and save everyone. John is hesitant as using the watch is the same as committing suicide. Joan takes John aside and shares a series of images generated by the watch showing what their lives may have been like in the future, happily settling down, raising a family, and growing old together. Joan admits that she would love that future, but that the Doctor is needed now."

You so totally rock! Thank you. It makes perfect sense now.

You're welcome!

John Simm as The Master!

Is it just me, or doesn't John Simm portray The Master best?

From the first introduction of the character (Roger Delgado and then later by Anthony Ainley), there was never much explanation of his true motivations.

Seriously -- if you were The Master and had your own TARDIS (as he did), you could wreak havoc, plunder the past and take over civilizations AVOIDING your goody-two-shoes mortal enemy, The Doctor!

Having someone portray The Master as an insane person, rather than just a meglo-maniac, makes the character make more sense and John Simm plays one of the most believable crazy-persons I've seen on stage!

I hope he returns again and again!!
