There's been a strong rumour going around that the hate-spewing music video "The Bible Says" song by Donnie Davies is indeed a joke. A number of things about Donnie's song have come to light that strongly point in this direction. However, for whatever reason this video was created, it's still simply HATE SPEECH -- if this were on Saturday Night Live, Kids in the Hall, or other COMEDY SHOW, then we would probably laugh at it -- but the problem is that this is being presented as real, including a fake webpage at http://lovegodsway.org/ that touts it's C.H.O.P.S. programme:
"C.H.O.P.S is the powerful new program developed by Christian Youth expert Donnie Davies. C.H.O.P.S stands for CHANGING HOMOSEXUALS into ORDINARY PEOPLE.Joke or not, this video and website is hurting people with it's message of hate and discrimination. Thanks to folks like you reporting this as "inappropriate content", we managed to get Donnie's message of hate taken OFFLINE YouTube and Google Video. Now it's time to put the pressure on MySpace. If Donnie wants to spread his message of HATE (joke or not), he needs to host the file on his OWN servers, not public venues that have anti-discrimination policies such as YouTube, Google Video, MySpace, Revver, etc.
If you have been having feelings that you DO NOT want to have towards people of the same sex as you, then this is the program for you.
If you've been acting on those same feelings, then this is DEFINATELY the program you've been looking for."
Thanks for taking action! Some of the lyrics called into question:
"Lord, you are my strength, fill me with your love."Some comments from Donnie's video (now only hosted on MySpace at http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1802175110 ) include:
"...to enter heaven, there's no back door."
"Righteous man, get on your knees..."
"Jesus, my saviour, is the only man for me."
"Oops, okay, I just read an earlier comment that proves that it is a fake. Thank goodness! It's hard to tell, though. You see plenty of wack-jobs all over nowadays going over the line step by step."Please take a moment to go to Donnie's music video on MySpace and report it to MySpace as "Inappropriate Content." Thanks!
"The reason im so uptight about this is cuzz ive had friends who were realy gay that would totally be hurt by this. if God hates fags he also hates liars cheaters stealers murders. and whether we admit it, we are guilty of alot of these."
"Guys, I know the language and message seem ridiculous and preposterous but the really scary thing is, this video was not intended to be a joke. Check out his webpage - he is very serious about reforming gays."
"This is hilarious. If he's joking it's brilliant, and if he's serious it's even more funny. I love you Mr. Davies. In the most homosexual way humanly possible."
"This is probably a really elaborate joke, but either way it does put into perspective the hateful spew that the westborough baptist church and other similiar institutions endorse. the terrorists already won."
"Dude your video is completely ridiculous along w/ your views. Why do you have to be hating on the gays? You look pretty faggy in your pink shirt and perfectly trimmed mustache. Being gay is not a sin or a choice. Whatever."
