The week in review...

This was a stay-at-home weekend. I'm oncall (24x7) this week. I was going to go to happy hour at The Alley on Friday; but just after I got ready to go, three pages came in that kept me busy for hours.

Oh well, I guess it dosen't matter much -- nothing here in Boston can compare to the past few weekends... In any case, I got a new laptop to configure (ThinkPad T40) a serious upgrade from my failing T22. I moved my files over, and rebuilt the T22 for the new employee who is starting on Monday. Each move from system to system is getting easier -- I got my vital applications and data moved over in no time. The new ThinkPad has built-in Wifi (802.11a/b/g) as well as BlueTooth (which I know nothing about yet...) It makes it nicer that I don't need my PCI card anymore! It also has a lot more memory and disk space (which I was needing anyways...)

In other news, my pal Jay in Brockton who hosted gay orgies at his home, made the front pages of the Boston Herald and The Enterprise (local paper in Brockton.) The funny thing is, that although he lived across from a school, the parties had nothing to do with the school, or the locals... The newspaper reporter was just on a gay witch-hunt. Poor Jay, a prominent person in his community has been reduced to gossip-talk and scandal by this reporter, although he did nothing illegal. All the people that participated were consenting adults in the privacy of a residence. I hope Jay sues their asses off!

Oh, yeah -- for my geek friends, the new version of PuTTY (0.55) is now available! PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Win32 and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator. It is written and maintained primarily by Simon Tatham.

Mass Red Ribbin Ride - Photos

Photos from the Mass Red Ribbin ride are now online at SnapFish!

Looking for me? I'm the shirtless guy in the third row back...

Also.... If you're a fan of the Toolbox in Toronto -- it closed the weekend of the Rams Run. This is the SECOND time the bar closed (formerly known as the 18 East) -- I was there for the first closing; but not for the second one. There was a cover charge of $10 to attend the closing party and the line went around the corner in the rain... The building (Simcoe House) is to be torn down for yet more condos (like Toronto needs even more!!)

There are rumours flying that the Toolbox shall rise again; however, considering Matt and Bob's age and the amount of work required to do it all again, I doubt it. In any case, since being gay and moreover, being a gay leatherman is now socially acceptable in Toronto, Church Street has been catering to all the needs of the community -- from Woody's and The Black Eagle, to Priape and newly renovated Steamworks...
