Keep Walking

Ed Burton visits Boston!

This past weekend, I got to meet Ed Burton, visiting MIT from London, England.

Ed Burton is Soda's Research and Development Director and is always seeking new ideas for new technologies. He also loves to play and is the original culprit behind sodaconstructor, the java toy that exemplifies his peculiar passion for dynamic interaction facilitating creative play and emergent behaviour.

Ed's current research interests are reflected in his ongoing doctoral thesis applying artificial intelligence as a framework to represent and investigate the way young children learn to draw.

Ed is a charming leather biker with a very gentle personality -- we toured the clubs, as well as Boston. It was quite amazing how I knew of his work before ever meeting the man! An article on Slashdot pointed me in the direction of Soda Constructor, which I have played with on and off for ages when I needed to relax. When he posted a message to the Boston Bears group, I jumped on it right away! Brains, leather, biker, physics, who could ask for anything more! :-) Now I have a VERY GOOD reason to travel to London soon!

On Sunday, Derek and I went to Lowe's Common to see Secret Window. It was a good movie! I'm not a huge Steven King fan, except for "The Stand" -- but this one had a similar mind-fuck as my favourite movie, Fight Club! It was quite enjoyable!! I also like Johnny Depp, so I guess the chemestry just worked well...

"Mort Rainey (Depp), a writer just coming off of a troublesome divorce with his ex-wife, Amy (Bello), finds himself stalked at his remote lake house by a psychotic stranger (Turturro) who claims Mort stole his best story idea and just changed the ending. [Yahoo Movies]"

I would reccomend it to anyone; except those with a serious bi-polar disorder! ;-)

See 'Secret Window' Production Photos, watch trailers (clips), and other stuff at Yahoo Movies here:

Sunday night was the Boston Bears naturists group gathering in South Boston. It was game night, and although the party was slated from 16:00 to 21:00, we got so engrosed playing "Electronic Catch Phrase" that the party didn't break up 'till 23:00!! A fun time was had by all...

Monday came far too quickly for my liking this weekend!

This coming weekend is the Boston Bears 1st anniversary. We're going to have our regular "happy hour" at the Alley, a movie night (we're still voting on which one; looks like it might be "Starsky & Hutch" at this point), our monthly barnight at The Alley on Saturday, and other events!
