Keep Walking

(no subject)

Well, considering that after pushing my bike on Monday night and that I was sore all over, I would treat myself to something nice. I discovered something great! The Uljas Koitto Temperance Society has an authentic Finnish Sauna! And they are open Wednesdays from 6pm to 9pm! I grabbed a swimsuit, some towels, shampoo and some fancy soap and headed south to Pembroke, Massachusetts (just 14 miles from home.)

For the low price of $7 (yes, SEVEN DOLLARS) I had free range usage of their sauna, shower, lodge and lake! The Uljas Koitto ("Noble Endeavor") Temperance Society was founded in Quincy Massachusetts in 1892 to discourage the use of alcohol and illicit drugs and inform about Finnish Culture, we have maintained our mission for over 100 years and are registered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as non-profit organization. There were a wide variety of folks, both individuals and families. I spent two hours alternating between steaming/sweating and cooling off in Furnace Pond. It was beautiful!! It made my aches and pains melt away, and truly feel relaxed.

I got home about 9:30pm and headed to bed early, as I had some major work items to deal with in the morning at 5:45am. (Looking back, I'm glad I went last night, as I managed to screw up BIG at work in the morning by typing init 5, rather than init 6, during a reboot -- causing three of the five servers to shut themselves OFF and require someone in California to go onsite and turn the key on the servers to start them back up. I know I have not heard the last of this F.U.B.A.R. mistake.

I'm glad it's a long weekend -- I'll need it. Maybe I'll go back to U.K.T.S. on Saturday...
