After arriving in Frankfurt on Friday morning, meeting my host Paulo (bearginner) and grabbing some lunch and a nap, we met up with one of Paulo's friends, "H.G.", and went out for a proper dinner at Germania, where I had real German sausage and real frankfurters with fried potatoes, salad and Apfelwein (German apple wine), something just about everyone drinks here!
As we made our way home, we stopped for a pint in a German gay bar. The bars here work like Katz's deli in New York: You're given a blank ticket on your way into the bar, and each time you get a drink, they mark your ticket. You pay your grand total on the way out.
Today (Saturday), I explored the city on my own whilst Paulo was working in Cologne, Germany. I went to a public farmer's market (yum!) and enjoyed some real bratwurst, apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel) and a cup of tea!
Then it was up to the top of Main Tower, to the observation deck (200 metres above Frankfurt!)
I took a lot of photos, which can be seen here: http://photos.chazhome.com/20090307FrankfurtGermany
Now it's nap time, while my photos upload -- tonight it's off to "Bear Night" and then the Leather Bar!
