Please join me as well as friends and family of John Ipacs at Lux Lounge, 666 South Ave, Rochester, NY this Sunday, 16 September 2007 from 2:00 PM for a celebration of Johnny's life.

John expressed that he did not want a "traditional" funeral service nor viewing, but rather that his friends gather and rejoice in the time we had together.

As many of you are aware, Johnny used to be quite the barfly and was always the life of the party -- one tavern installed handles under the bar so John could "hold on" when the floor shifted underneath him (of course, it wasn't the floor doing the moving!)

Lux Lounge is owned by John's dear friend Karrie Laughton, who has generously donated the space for our use on Sunday. Of course, the bar's address being "666" also helps play up the flames and satanic imagery which John was such a fan of -- of course, all of us who knew John also knew that his tattoos, piercings and fascination with satanic imagery were not based in satanism; but rather simply an impression that got him attention while providing him a persona that was larger than life.

Please plan to bring photos and stories to share with everyone that highlight John's life and involvement in our lives. I hope to see you there.

Brittney will be there as well.

I miss him deeply
I knew John since kindergarten. At 15 we became very good friends... very close. Unfortunately, by the time we were 18 he'd met a girl who involved him in things that changed the course and direction of his life. We lost touch but connected through serendipity once in a blue moon. Everyday since I found out he passed I have missed him. Deeply. I don't think he really knew that I always considered him as a brother. Today I found out his mom died and the wound reopens. His memory will live on in me until the day I no longer exist.

Tears are running down my face as I write this. I did not know that Johnny (I also knew him back when he went by Jon) was gone. I met him when I was approximately 15 and we became very close friends. He brought laughter into my life every time I was around him. We went to high school together, participated in a dance-a-thon, rollerskated together, partied together (he was a bad influence on me, but I always went back for more), we were roommates for a while, our relationship had a few low points, but mostly wonderful times. I could talk to him about anything. He was very special to me although we had lost touch for a number of years. I have always loved Johnny and I will miss him!
