Making the "big switch"

Once again, Comcast has chosen to raise their prices and offer no new services... I have basic cable, plus some additional analogue channels -- no premium channels such as HBO, Cinemax nor "Digital Service", nor do I have a Comcast-provided DVR -- and yet, the monthly cost for this commercial-laden service? About $69.00 a month. To add injury to insult, I've made numerous complaints about signal quality from Comcast -- each time they tell me I need a new feeder line brought into my condo, but they don't do anything about running a new line because they need access to the other nine units in order to run new cable to my end unit -- and that's too much work for them (I guess...) -- I never got a single credit for all the ongoing problems either!!

So, after much thought, I've finally decided to convert to DirecTV for my television service; but retain Comcast for my internet service. Not only will I be 'locked in' at a fixed price for the next 24 months, I'll get 170 digital channels plus seven HBO channels, six Cinemax channels, a super Sports Package, a free DVR, two other rooms set up with receivers, a FREE portable DVD player... aside from the installation being difficult, I'm looking forward to the switch!

Today's song... Genesis - Land Of Confusion. Please note: Due to too many people opening up multiple downloads from my MP3 server, I have restricted access to FTP ONLY, you can NOT get to Chaz' Jukebox with a http:// commands at this time. (Some jerks always take advantage of a good thing, eh?)

Why didn't you just ask for my extra Star Choice receiver and Dish along with all that lovely Canadian Content for about $35.00 a month??

How many channels do you get again?

How's your HD reception?

Can you rewind live TV?

Now that I work from home, the television keeps me company. Although there's a lot of mindless CRAP on it, having DirecTV (dish) and a DVR (digital video recorder) allows me watch WHAT I want, WHEN I want and fast forward over commercials...

It's worth it to me...

Yea, I'm sick of ComCast raising the prices. I think we pay almost $130 now for cable, internet, and HBO. I know it's a luxary, but c'mon! I wish they had a la carte. I only watch certain channels. We have alot of shit channels that I just scroll right by.

How will the DirecTV be with your internet? Lemme know how it is!

Ooo.. I hope I wasn't one of those jerks!!! (I don't think so? but who knows...) I apologize if I was, it was accidental.

Hey, no worries about making it up to NH this year for Emily's party. Haha.. she's having a princess tea party (which I am informed by her almost daily that kids can't have tea.. silly mommy!) I don't think you'd want to run around in a little tutu drinking 'tea'. Hee! (LOL - just had the mental image of you in your leather vest w/ a tutu and a teacup w/ pinky in the air) *snicker*

1) No, I will keep Comcast Internet until FiOS comes here. DirecTV only offers DSL through 3rd party vendors.

2) Unless you live in Australia, it wasn't you.

3) Just did a princess party for Ellie last weekend! She turned 4! I guess they're all the rage!

Also, due to problems with the neighjbours and questions as to the condominium bylaws, DirecTV is on hold for two weeks, until I can state my case to the other owners (there are eight units here...)
