I was only able to nap about four hours on the transatlantic flight, as we switched planes at 23:20 EST in Halifax, Nova Scotia, so I took a quick two hour nap before heading out on foot. I basically walked from Angel Tube Station to the Elephant and Castle Tube Station, passing through parts of Islington, Camden, Westminster and then into Southwark. On this three-hour stroll, I passed several local street markets, walked along the River Thames and noshed in front of the Houses of Parliament. It was a lovely walk, and beautiful weather!
I passed by "The Eagle" during my walkabout - and although it looks the sort, it's not the type of "Eagle" the gay community in the United States has come to expect! (Grin!)
At 17:30, I caught up with chrishansenhome for a pint and then it was off to dinner with him, his boyfriend and their next-door neighbours at a lovely Thai restaurant close by the Elephant and Castle tube. (Thanks for a lovely dinner, Chris!) Later that night, as planned, I dressed up in my leather chaps, vest, cap, etc. and went to The King's Arms and later, The Hoist. It was "naked night" at The Hoist! Now, tell me why can't we do that here in Boston or New York?!?
After staying out 'till last orders at The Hoist, and admiring a very woofy Scotsman Daddy-Bear (tartan and all!), I slept in on Saturday -- waking in time to catch the tube to Victoria Station to go see Wicked! - The Musical at The Apollo Victoria Theatre. It was a fantastic show!! Once again, Dr. David didn't steer me wrong on this one!
After the show, I did some shopping and headed back to Islington to have some dinner, relax a bit and meet up with my mate, Dave P., who was coming in that evening directly from work. After a quick shower and change of clothing, once again I was headed to The King's Arms and later, The Hoist -- this time, with Dave in tow! We had a wonderful night of friskiness!
Sunday morning, we started off with a bit of Dim Sum for brunch and went to Canary Wharf where we toured the financial district, the Royal Maritime Museum and the outside of the Royal Greenwich Observatory. We did some shopping in the open-air marketplace before going back to town to shop at Clone Zone and grab a few pints at Compton's. We had a wonderful dinner in Soho and then needed to rush back to the hotel to change and get to The Underground at Central Station for the CMG: LONDON '07 gathering. (I was forty minutes late for my own event!!!) We had some nice blokes at CMG: LONDON, although I should have thought better about the venue -- it was too dark, hot and wet. Next time, we'll choose somewhere better -- there's chat about holding a CMG in Nottingham and Manchester now!
Monday it was a traditional English Breakfast and then Dave was off home, and I was on my way to Heathrow. My flight departed at 15:00 GMT, and seven hours later was landing in Montréal, PQ to switch planes -- I was back in Boston at 22:00 EST and on my way home. (How depressing to return...) You can see snaps of my trip in my LiveJournal Scrapbook!
Now I'm doing the washing and re-packing for our trip to The Long Island Ravens' Run in Ronkonkoma, New York. A far cry from London's bustling activities and amenities; however, with over 100 leathermen, it will be a fun time for all!
The Boston Bears will be hosting a cocktail party on Friday night at the run, and I will be doing some medical demos there, including some Testicular Saline Injections, some sounding, and perhaps a few more things! ;-)
Although it's probably too late to register for the full weekend, I think you can still get tickets for the Leather Ball at The Historical Thatched Cottage for $79. For more information, go to http://liravensmc.org/anniversary/
Today's song is Syntax - Bliss -- please note: I have made major changes to the Chazhome server -- far better response time, and more uptime reliability!
