Snakes on a Plane!!

"Snakes on a Plane is a high concept action/horror film scheduled to be released by New Line Cinema on August 18, 2006. The David R. Ellis-helmed film was written by David Dalessandro, John Heffernan, Sheldon Turner and stars Samuel L. Jackson. Although the film is now completed, the film wrapped up principal photography in September of 2005 including five days of additional re-shooting to bring the movie from a PG-13 rating to an R rating. Though initialy speculated to be a dark, absurdist, or surreal comedy, its genre is officially designated as action/horror." -- The "Plot": Nelville Flynn (Samuel L. Jackson) and Sean Jones (Nathan Phillips), who are FBI agents, escort John Saunders (Mark Houghton), a former low-ranking member of the Mafia, to testify in a highly publicized case. In the course of a flight between Hawaii and California, an assassin pays airport security to sneak a time-release crate of 400 snakes of various sizes on board in the hope of killing the witness.

I'm going because I love the cheekiness of the idea. They know it's ludicrous and they know it's almost self-parodying and yet they went ahead and made it. Also, well, half my buddies on the internet have been jonesing about this for over a year, and it has spawned a whole cottage industry of homages and parodies before it's even out ... so I sort of have to see it just so I can either praise it or dish it with all the other guys I know who've been waiting for it. :-)

I will admit, it has an aire of potential for it to be a "cult" movie, however, most successful cult movies weren't intended to be cult movies...

See the "Top 100 Cult Movies" list for an idea of what I mean: http://www.cultmovies.info/specials/top100/top100.html

I just think that trying to "create" an "Anaconda" or "Evil Dead II" does not work very well, look at 'Rocky Horror II' (how many people even KNEW there was a sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show??

Plus, using known actors like Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Houghton and Nathan Phillips is not typical of successful cult movies (except for things like "Airplane" and "Police Academy")

Well, time will tell.

My snake was very thin and sick , so I took it to the vet.

The vet took a quick look and said, Sorry, your snake is going to die, that will be £20. I said is that all I get for £20?

He took the snake over to a floppy-eared rabbit, and the rabbit pointed his ears straigt up to the ceiling...

He took it to a Black Labrador dog, and the dog stuck out his tongue and shook its head ...

He took it to a cat, the cat opened her eyes very wide and then shook its head violently ...

He said, "That will be £350...

... £50 for the second opinion, £75 for Lab tests and £225 for the CAT scan."
