Tech Question

I have an MSI MS-6368 motherboard, which supports Socket 370 for Intel® Pentium® III/Celeron™ Processor or VIA® C3 Processor. Now I've found there are several kinds of Pentium III and Celeron Processors.

Which one is the best for speed for use with my webserver application?

Yes, there are a LOT of them!! Look here to see!

For webserving... You want the most Cache available, since it will be doing a lot of the same operations, (especially if you're running several instances of Apache...) So stay away from Celerons. After that I'd say go for Bus Speed, since RAW Ghtz isn't the tell tale sign of power, you gotta see how quickly you can get stuff in and out of the CPU, otherwise it's spinning its wheels a lot... Then go for Ghtz. 1200 or 1300 and you'll have a great box... Unless you want to run Window's Vista {snicker}

I'd say,
Unless this is going in a datacenter with big internet connection and going to server thousands and thousands of hits a hour, it doesn't matter what you buy.

You can run a webserver on any old box (even an 486 would run a great apache server.) If it just at home connected to a cable modem or DSL.

Of course depends what else your putting on it. Database? Very Dynamic Website? Mostly static content...
